Whale.io Moves NFT Collection from TON to Solana for Better Accessibility

Date:

  • Whale.io is moving its NFT collection from TON to Solana to improve access and trading with lower fees and faster transactions.
  • Whale NFT holders will keep key benefits like gas-free trading and rewards while gaining exposure to Solana’s NFT market.
  • The migration will support Whale NFTs in the Wheel of Whales game and ensure a smooth transition for all current holders.

Whale.io has announced that it is migrating its Whale NFT collection from the TON blockchain to the Solana blockchain. The goal of this transition is to make Solana‘s infrastructure usable for interoperability and accessibility purposes. The shift into a new ecosystem with an active NFT market represents a blockchain realignment for the project. The move is a part of a wider plan to expand the project’s reach and engagement across different blockchain environments.

The Whale NFT collection was first deployed on TON and 20,000 NFTs were minted out for free within hours. In the past year, the collection has found its footing on Getgems, the premier NFT marketplace on TON. Its popularity stems from the collection’s eye-catching designs and varying rarities with many holders displaying them as profile pictures across Telegram.

The Whale.io team kept up their engagement with strategies such as token buybacks and supply reduction through burning. Their efforts helped to keep the collection afloat and grow it over the long term. With this move to Solana, the team hopes to bring these same strategies to a new blockchain environment where fees are lower and transactions are high speed.

How the Migration Will Affect the Whale NFT Ecosystem

Whale NFT trading and access to Whale is anticipated to change as it moves into Solana. With faster transactions and lower fees, trading may become more efficient. The integration of NFT assets into major Solana – based marketplaces by the holders of NFTs will increase their exposure and hence potential liquidity of the assets. With the project’s migration, Whale NFTs are expected to keep appearing on trend lists like they did on Getgems.

One of the major features of Whale NFTs on TON was gas free trading that enabled users to buy and sell without the need to pay any fees. Similarly, the project team has stated that similar mechanisms will be available on Solana. The aim is to maintain the continuity of accessibility that led to the popularity of Whale NFTs with collectors.

Another important part of the Whale NFT Ecosystem is its connection to the Wheel of Whales mini-app on Telegram. This play-to-earn game made a huge wave within the community by allowing users to share in Whale token distribution. The Whale NFTs are more valuable in the gaming ecosystem as holders of Whale NFTs receive boosted earnings and in-game perks. Golden NFTs with the highest rarity have been sold for over 2,000 TON each.

Next Steps and Community Updates

Whale.io has provided the community with the next steps to the migration process and urged the community to check out for updates. The bridging timeline, technicals of the transition, and marketplace listings will be provided by the project team.

Details for the migration process, trading availability and continued development will be further announced in the ecosystem. As the transition occurs, community members and collectors can stay informed through official communication channels.
